Actually, apple can join if they like and others can as well. There was an
announcement last year about the formation of the organization. I don't
know how this will play out bbut we were told that anyone can join and lend
a hand but I don't know what the structure of the organization is and if it
is anything like what I have previously experienced, it's going to go
whatever way the big boys and girls want it to go. Adobe is a member and
happily, they are cross platforming quite nicely although a bit think on the
Mac side.

Subject: Accessibility Interoperability Alliance

Hey All, in light of the earlier note today on the MS article with
the AIA, does this bother anyone else?... Apple doesn't appear to be
a member, whereas MS has someone on the steering committee. Todays
press release about the UIA was timed so well with the release of
Office 2008 with its lack of access, that this could be a hellaciously
good political tool against Apple's efforts and accomplishments with
VO etc, as it would effectively put Apple 'out in the cold' as it
were, since the current access model with Mac wouldn't fit. And being
that this organization now has several companies behind it, this could
be quite a lil leverage tool?... Yes?...

   Am curious for others thoughts....

Smiles,

Cara :)
