Hi folks,
I am wanting to use Stickies, but I wondered if there was a way of
attaching notes to specific files. For example, if I write an essay
and I think I have an idea that I like can i put it on a sticky and
then the next time I open it the note will appear to?
Or if not is there a similar program
Thanks

Hi, James.
Interesting question. I don't actually know of a universal application
to do this kind of thing. I know that Skim, for example, is a pdf
reader that lets you attach notes to pdf files. In other words, you're
reading a book and you can write notes and highlight specific pages etc.
Usually this kind of thing gets done the other way around. In other
words, you're writing essay.txt and have another idea. You could use a
task tracker or a journaling app, IGTD and Journler are the ones I use
for this but there are others, and write tasks or notes with a link
back to that file. Unfortunately, this is kind of the reverse of what
you want. You go to the task tracker and look up the "add neat idea to
essay.txt" task, and you can follow a link to open essay.txt in your
text editor.
I have no idea how to do it the other way around, open essay.txt in a
text editor and have some other app pop up and say "hey, you wanted to
add this neat idea."
Is this any help?
