I know what you mean. It took about 7-10 days to get this back to me. This problem developed when I bought my first Mac PowerBook, and I didn't send it in until semester break. As it happened, the problem wasn't fixed (DVDs showed up on the desktop, etc. but still didn't "work" in any of the applications and would get ejected), so I waited until the end of the university year to try again. Your mileage may vary <smile>. I sent this back two more times, and then Apple gave me a new computer, which I've used ever since.
