Subvrsion is in both fink and macports which used to be darwinports, as
trying to fetch it in either fink or macports would tell you. No, it isn't
on the Mac by defaul.
The site looks slightly different in the two browsers but I have downloaded
from various sourceforge sites with no problem, so I'm not sure what you
mean by safari not allowing access to the download area; maybe I'm missing
your problem on this particular project site. In this case, you are being
told that the latest stable version of pyobjc is installed on leopard by
default and you can get it also with subversion--I wasn't sure whether the
version of it with subversion was newer or not. There are no unstable
versions. Btw safari told me this just as lynx did. I then went to the
subversion repository site in safari by follwing the link and found various
directories all of which I was able to open. I didn't know exactly what you
were trying to download but I found various items that could be downloaded,
not by the usual method of hitting enter but by engaging the context menu by
holding down control and hitting the five key in the numberic keypad with
mouse-keys turned on. I don't know what kind of Mac you have so this may be
somewhat different on a laptop. There is a similar situation in lynx when if
you try to download by hitting the link instead of pressing d you aren't
given a "download or cancel" prompt and you end up sitting in the file
content itself rather than downloading it. However, if you can do the same
thing with subversion, and if the subversion version is later than the one
on the Mac, it would make sense to do it with subversion. I use subversion
with brltty on the Mac all the time. I just read your latest post and found
you did use subversion.
I have no problem helping you with things you really might not know about
the Mac yet, such as the alternate way to download with holding down control
and hitting the five key on the numpad, and I am sure others are willing to
share such information as well. But try not to post as if your inability to
do something with safari means it can't be done. It would make a lot more
sense for you to post exactly what you are trying to do and say "I can't do
this with safari; has anybody else done this or would somebody else please
try it and tell me whether or not there is a way?" There's nothing wrong
with ysing lynx whenever you want to do so; I use lynx sometimes because I
can use my braillelite in Terminal and don't have a display that works with
Macosx proper. But please don't assume that because you can't figure out
something in safari, it can't be done.
