couldn't get this to work out of the box in bootcamp. There's a keyboard
conflict with the language bar anyway seeing as option becomes alt in the
windows environment, and alt shift switches languages. Not sure whether its
that conflicting or whether the command just plain isn't supported.

Hello. Using a MacBook here. It worke like a charm. I used shift
option f11 and shift option f12, and I did indeed have to add the fn key.
I hope you get it working. It's a really neat feature.

This trick didn't work using a regular macbook. I tried both shift
option f11 and 12 and shift option f4 and f5. Adding the function key
didn't do it either.
What am I missing?

Yep I can confirm that this worked for me on a macbook pro with the f4
and f5 volume keys. Not sure if it works under bootcamp, but I'll test
it out and post back if nobody beats me to it.
Nice trick, cheers for sharing Shaun

Listers to change the volume in smaller increments you can use shift
option F11 and F12. Depending on your keyboard setup you may have to
include the function key. I don't know if this works on notebooks
using the F4 and F5 configurations. This moves the volume a quarter of
a decimal wherein using this combo it would take four presses to get
the normal volume raised.
