Sorry man, my bad. Chris had it right, not sure if you saw his message or
not. out of those 2 firewire ports, the one nearest the front of the mbp is
the 400, the one nearest to your lan port, the bigger of the two, is the
firewire 800.

Yeah let me know when you get home because I see the lock, a USB two
firewire ports and a ethernet plug. I think the other USB port is on the
left side. I just need to know which one of the two firewire ports are.

Shaun - I'm going on memory here cos i don't have the mbp in front of
me. If you start from the front at the right hand side, as you move
toward the back of the mbp i think it goes little security lock thingy,
then 2 USB ports, then the firewire 400/800, then LAN port, then your
video out.
Let me know if my memory fails you and I can check when I get home
tonight.

Not a problem. Let me quickly ask a ports question to my fellow MBP
owner. Which port is the firewire 400 and 800 port?

Yep I can confirm that this worked for me on a macbook pro with the
f4 and f5 volume keys. Not sure if it works under bootcamp, but I'll
test it out and post back if nobody beats me to it.
Nice trick, cheers for sharing Shaun

Listers to change the volume in smaller increments you can use shift
option F11 and F12. Depending on your keyboard setup you may have to
include the function key. I don't know if this works on notebooks
using the F4 and F5 configurations. This moves the volume a quarter
of a decimal wherein using this combo it would take four presses to
get the normal volume raised.
