Yep I can confirm that this worked for me on a macbook pro with the f4 and
f5 volume keys. Not sure if it works under bootcamp, but I'll test it out
and post back if nobody beats me to it.

Listers to change the volume in smaller increments you can use shift
option F11 and F12. Depending on your keyboard setup you may have to
include the function key. I don't know if this works on notebooks using
the F4 and F5 configurations. This moves the volume a quarter of a
decimal wherein using this combo it would take four presses to get the
normal volume raised.
