Keith,
I just looked at the Change Password utility on my Leopard installation disk. It has 3 areas. The first is to select the target disk. The second is a pop up menu that allows you to select the username of the account. The third area is for the password itself. You should be able to get the information you need to log in to an admin account. One thing to be careful of is changing the directory name. One of my coworkers did this and wasn't able to login again.
