Well, as OpenOffice.org is open source project, it's something anyone
with the skills could get involved in fixing:

All the office suites use highly customized controls, especially for the
main document display; whether the Apple Accessibility API is genuinely
capable of reflecting the functionality of such controls without Apple
making changes to it is perhaps open to question.
