yep now that is a good thing lol. now it would be great if apple gave us a few more real voices. say a sexy younger model, a woman with a bit of wisdom etc. cant believe I just said that lol oops

well screen readers have never had sexy voices, they've always been like an artic spirit to me. boring and like a goose farting in the fog.

any who lol what we need are more voices that can draw our attention as I say for me I'd love a younger female model speaking on my mac maybe british, american or australian. anyone want to volunteer? hehehehehehe

Lou, I use Alex and Vicki a lot on my iMac at home; for my Mac Mini for work, I use Alex, Vicki, and Princess. I don't know what it is about Princess that keeps my attention, but I just like the sound of her voice for reading at work. I have tried other voices, but the Apple voices are so much more pleasant to my ear. Which reminds me, does anybody know of any female voices that Apple is working on, to resemble the characteristics of Alex, i.e. breathing and hesitation with the human-like characteristics. well I was so fed up of eloquence because it just didnt do anything for me. I like using vicky. wow would love to meet her lol I dare say she's cute and cuddly lol so I use vicky and alex a lot of the time and am happy with what they both do. and I am glad there are other voices out there that can be used. say has anyone downloaded any new voices for the mac or knows where I could get some?

Hello

Not as slow as a snail. I would fully believe that Alex reads 300 words per minute. That is too slow. Before I updated I clocked my average reading speed with Fred at 450 words per minute.

I have not tried the system voices but that is interesting that people notice differences. it seems like they have done something in voiceover in the way that it handles the synthesizers to make it read with tonality and inflection which works great for Alex, but it seems like they have just done the same for all the voices which does not work for the more computer like voices like Fred.

It is certainly snappy, but I am still always surprised at how much faster jaws can speak under winblos while maintaining clarity. Again, our voices sound way better, but it comes at a cost of having generally slower reading

It bothered me when I upgraded, but it does not bother me as much. I would have never been annoyed by it if they hadn't messed up the other voices.

hi well voice over speed at 100 percent is disappointing all those claims are pointless marketing to use alex as he reads like a snail smile

yes, system voice is different. for one thing, I don't think it has
inflection or the pitch/something is different.

It's weard for me though. At 100 percent system voice, he's slow. At 100 percent VoiceOver speed, he's faster. When Alex, for instance, is
announcing the time I can bairly hear t corectly. I must've dome
something to make it speak extremely fast, ans well.
