Hello everyone.

I just realized how the "FN" term in the subject might be interpreted by those who might be devious like I. ;-) However, I am referring to the "FN Key" located on laptop and the newer bluetooth keyboards.

Normally, while VO is running, the keys act as standard function keys when pressed and I can use control+key to bring up the dock, status menus, ETC. If I want to access the special functions on each key, I hold down the "FN Key" and press a function key. This is all well and good. However, I noticed that when I switch VO off, the keys act in reverse. I no longer need to press the "FN Key" to activate the special functions of each key, but I do need to hold down the "FN Key" to have the function keys act as standard function keys. In the "Keyboard and Mouse" system preferences, under the keyboard and/or keyboard shortcuts tab, you can manually choose whether or not the keys will act standard by default. However, no matter what I do, it seems that without VO running, the keys will activate their special functions when pressed alone and with VO running will act as standard function keys when pressed alone.

I hope this is clear. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Is there a way to get them to act the same with and without VO running?

Thanks for any and all help.

Best regards,
