OK Lewis, Scot, thanks to both of you for your responses. i will need to investigate further. so as far as i can gather OS 9 can't talk on it's own you need an additional software package. can this be begged borrowed or stolen from anywhere?

the only other thing to do with the iMac is run outspoken 9.2 on it. otherwise sell it
