Or try to go into System preferences, Universal Access, then choose
open Voiceover Utilities.
Are you sure this is a new machine? What happened the first time you
started your Mac? Should you install the whole system from the
standard image, or did it start up so the system already was installed?
The last thing I can think about is if you don't use the US version of
the OSX. Some settings might be change in other versions of the
systems, or maybee have other names. The Voiceover utility is not
translated to my language, and I'm wandering what would happen if they
changed it...
I hope you got it fixed soon.
Best regards

Hi
Hmm sounds like your Voiceover utility got deleted, not sure how
that would happen though. I saw this on a display Mac at an
electronics store once, they apparently gave someone the admin
password and they went in and deleted everything under utilities,
including the VO utility, which resulted in this problem.
Check if you can open Voiceover Utility from the Utilities folder,
under Applications.

Hi all!
I am new to mac and new to the list. Just got a MacBook and all is
well except when I first got the machine ctrl-option-f8 would open
voice over utility. Now when I press those key combinations it gives
the message "unable to open voice over utility". Not sure what has
changed or if I inadvertently pressed a key. Still too new to know!

Not sure what other information I can pass along that would be
helpful!
Any help would be appreciated.
