There is some malware for Mac, because there is for any system, but
there are no viruses. Viruses are self-replicating and self-
spreading, and as yet, no one has successfully created one for Mac OS
X. The malware out there requires the users to be very lax in their
usage of the system.
You should be careful about security. You should have firewalls
running for your Mac and/or your network. Viruses, however, are not
something we have to worry about on Macs yet. Someday, perhaps, but
not yet. And, given the architecture of Mac OS X, it is going to be
much more difficult for us to ever be as plagued by them as the
Windows world, IMO.
