Hey Dan. The mac version uses the speecs codec. Unfortunately  most windows 
bassed servers use the gsm codec. The reason for this is that the developers 
couldn't secure lisencing for the gsm codec for the mac side. So, the only 
way to fix this is to ask the person who set up the ventrilo server if they 
can switch the codec to speecs on their side. This will allow you to 
connect. Hope that helps
