Yeh, this is getting me really ripped.
I've got some messages coming in properly, and then I get a big wack
of messages that come in in reverse date order. When that happens I
can't delete. Then I go into eudora in windows and my it syncs my
imap account just fine, I delete the messages I want gone, and then re-
open apple mail. It will then sync just fine for a while, but then a
big chunk of mail will come in in reverse date order and my mail box
will take a crap and I'll have to go to eudora to resync to fix the
problem.
I like david's suggestion of hiting the repair mailbox option, since
it seems my mail box is obviously corupted in some way in apple mail,
but the option is greyed out.
I'm going to lose it here if this keeps up. I had my email provider
check the imap server and my account does not have any errors on it,
and there is nothing rong with the imap server itself.
My other pop account is not effected.
Whah?

I'm having the same problem but with the mail client that comes on
the mac. I hit command to sellect all and hit the back space to
delete the messages. It seems to delete them for a second but they
return.

All right, this is getting strange.
If I open up my imap account in eudora, a bunch of messages that I
deleted under mail are still in the inbox. So the mail is
obviously not syncing properly. The reason mail is caughing is
that it is confused that the state of the mail box isn't what it
should be or something. When I go in, delete the deleted messages
under eudora and log back into my imap with mail, all works well
until I delete a bunch more messages, and then it dies again.

Subject: help, I can't delete messages anymore.
Hi friends, this is the strangest problem ever. I can't use the
back
space key to move messages to trash anymore.
I just hit a bunch of letters and erased them with the back space,
but
nothing I do will move messages to trash. I've tried backspace,
delete, comand backspace, edit\moveto\trash, and one or two other
things, but my read mail just sits imobile in my in box. Have I
got a
corupted folder somewhere? I haven't changed anything. This
morning
I checked some mail and then I went out on a two hour support call
that ended up lasting all day. When I got home around five, it was
doing this stuff. I've rebooted several times since I got home
and no
change.
I am beginning to think I have some hardware issues. Last week
corupted lck files in my vm, this week a very valuable word document
saved and then refused to re-open, and now this inexplicable
behavior.
