I managed to sort it out by adding entries into the pronunciation
dictionary for the 'return' and 'new line' characters as well as when
the 2 of them appear together. In the new pronunciation field, I just
put a space. So far seems to have worked in textedit. Haven't tried
pdf in preview though. Hope this helps.
