I was told that you could get rid of the dot trashes files by emptying
the trash before ejecting your thumb drive.

I don't know how to stop those exactly, but I gather those are
resource forks and such that the Mac OS uses. They don't take up any
real space and yes they are annoying, but try to just ignore them.
Maybe someone knows how to prevent these from being placed on the
removable media and I'd like to know. Otherwise, they aren't really
a big deal in terms of wasting space as far as I can tell.
Sorry, that wasn't much help, but it'll give you an idea what they
are for in any event.

Hello everybody,
When I plug my jump drive into my mac, it pops up in the desktop.
I grab what I want, drop it on to the drive, and hit eject. When I
plug it into my windows laptop, it comes up fine again, but when I
open it, it has extra files that I did not put on it. These files
r a spotlight file, and some files that have an underline before
their names. Sometimes, their is also a .trashes folder, and an
_.trashes folder. What r these files and folders, and how can I
stop them from coming on to the drive when I plug it in to the
windows laptop, or is their no way to do this? Thanks a lot, Mike.
