Shrug, I mean a desktop when I said that.

Hi Orin,
Okay. The problem is what's this screencurt thing, and how can I turn
down the brightness on the laptop to like zrto? Can't see anything
anyway so there's no point.
Screen Curtain is a setting that allows sighted VoiceOver users to
simulate a non-sighted user's experience by turning off all visuals
on the screen -- effectively "drawing a curtain" over the display.
When VoiceOver is running, VO-keys-shift-F11 should enable or
disable the screen curtain (and give you a verbal message). One
or more the function keys controls your screen brightness. If I hold
down my F1 key, I'll hear the display brightness go down and a
percentage announced. If I hold down my F2 key I'll hear the
display brightness increase, and a percentage announced.
Since you have a recent machine, the keys will be in different
places, and you may have to hold down the Fn key along with
whichever F key is being used. You could put yourself in keyboard
practice mode if you wanted to check the correct keys.
Cheers,
