This is a tough question.

First, are the setups the same. In other words, do you have the same
router, the same internet service provider, the same encryption protocol?

Have you disabled ipv6? having this enabled unless you need it can slow
your transfers down dramatically. If your router is unencrypted, someone
may be using it which would slow it down. is the wire to the house good?
is there bad cable or connection to the router from the cable/dsl
connection?

I'm writing to ask you a simple question, my girlfriend, and her
parents laptops have wireless via windows XP. There computers seem to
run much more quicker on there wireless then on mine, and i'm curious
as to what i can do to try to increase this speed? I'm sitting in
about the same place, and have tryed moving around the room with my
macbook. I'm running mac osx 10.5.3.
thanks
mike
