My PAC Mate 20 comes up fine when I plug it in. I've also tried
changing some of the mapping but I don't know whether it will stick.
Setting it to Uncontracted Braille doesn't stick. However, the PAC
Mate drives me insane the way it skips about through text when I use
the whiz wheels to move along a line, or up and down lines.
I tried a HIMS SyncBraille a couple of weeks ago and it was a beauty.
Actually, I tried two, the 20 cell and the 32 cell models. They were
both very stable and responsive. What's more, they look good with a
MacBook. If only I had the money!
Cheers,
Anne

Hi will, you need to start the mac up with the display already
connected to get joy. It's supposed to just come up blazing when
you plug it in from what I've been told, but that isn't the case here.

As far as
I know, you can only ad not change a braille control mapping.
