Olivia there is no trick. First plug in the drive, make sure that
you select that drive if Time Machine asks if you wish to use it or
go into System Preferences and add this drive from the Time Machine
tab. Now once Time Machine has begun backing up your drive, there is
an unknown that you encounter within the finder. I'm not sure if
I'll explain this right, but generally if you use VO-f1 twice to get
the running apps and you go to the finder, there is an unknown you
can interact with to determine the status. Now what is much easier
is make sure Time Machine appears in the menubar and there is a
checkbox for this in the Time Machine preferences. You can then go
to the menu where the clock, AirPort status, and the like is located
and you'll find the Time Machine status there as well. It's
automated, you don't select the times at which Time Machine runs.
It's basically intended to be configured for what you want backed up
and then you just let it do it's thing. Does this help at all? If
something isn't very clear, let me know and I'll try to explain in
more detail.

Hi,
I am having trouble figuring out how to back up files, and how to
configure time machine to interact properly with voice over. When
I connect my lacy external drive to my macbook I can't tell how far
along the back up is, or if time machine is even backing up my files.
What is the trick to this?
Thanks, Olivia

How do you get time machine to work correctly with VO? So far, I
haven't had much luck with this, though time machine is supposed
to be accessible.
Any good time machine tips would be appreciated.
Thanks, Olivia
