Hi everyone
I am new to the list. I have only just updated to leopard (New imac)

find that voiceover is much better than it was in tiger. I'm just
starting
to get the swing of things but have a few questions.
1) I have an ebook in html format which I need to read fairly urgently.
How
do I read the text? when I try to get into the screen it says "HTML
content". I picked up that in order to interact with the HTML, I need
to
press control+options+shift+down but it only really reads the link on

page and does not progress to the actual text. So how do I get around
this
and read my book?
ok, wait, after you interact, are you then hitting just down arrow? Try
doing vo+down arrow. So, control option down arrow. just hitting down
arrow won't do it. Now, one thing you can do to keep from holding down
those vo keys, is after interacting, do a vo+simi colon. That'll then
lock your vo keys down. then do it again to unlock 'em.
2) How do I get voiceover to read the text in word 2004? Or should I be
using another word processor?
You honestly would be better off using Text Edit built into the Mac.
The only thing is, be aware, though you can open word files, and edit
them you won't be able to save them. You can save as ritch text though,
which will keep all the formatting, all the tables, collumns, bulleted
lists, coloring, shading, filling, macros, etc.
So, really that shouldn't be much of a down side, and a corse word will
open ritch text, so your professors shouldn't have any problem with
that.
If so which one? I am a university student so
I need all the bells and whistles that word can offer.

3) When in finder, how do you open a file using the keyboard? I tried
vo+space but that didn't work, and pressing enter simply gave me the
option
to edit the name of the file.
No no no no no. Hit command+O once you're on the file.
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm starting to get frustrated and
really
didn't know where else to find the answers.
