Dave,

Both the Mac and the icon need to be set up properly for this to work.  In 
sharing under system prefs, you need to make sure that you have an account 
selected and active and you need to check all the options such as ftp, smb, 
http etc.  Once you have done that, when you hit it with the icon it should 
work as long as your Icon and the Mac are on the network.
