An observation with the Infovox Ivox voices

Hi all, I just recently decided to purchase the US English infoVox  
IvoX voices,and I've noticed that regardless of the punctuation  
setting in VO,they'll  still read things like dashes, before  
somebody's reply when somebody is using outlook express, example: ---- 
Original message----. And also things like less than and greater than  
signs will be read.  When using these voices, are the punctuation  
settings that are set in VO, totally ignored?
