there are a couple of things.  vo works fine on my powerbook g4.

1> the most obvious thing might be to turn up the vo volume.  if that 
doesn't work, you might need to unmute the speech incase it got muted by 
accident.  Also, there is some lag between when vo is switched on and when 
it comes up talking.  Lastly, alex is a drain and depending on how fast and 
how much ram you have, you may get better results from one of the other 
voices.

Hi Everyone,
A friend of mine has a powerbook g4 running Mac os 10.5.2.  She tried
turning on voiceover, but the computer wouldn't speak even though the
screen said voiceover was running.  Her audio works and her volume is
up as far as it can go.  What could we try to get her computer to speak?
