To keep and app in the Doc: open app, that puts it temporarily in the doc. use control option d (vo d) to go to the doc. Then use left-right arrows to go the the app icon. Once on the app icon, use control option shift m (vo shift m) to open the pull down menu. use the down arrow to find the option for keeping the app in doc. escape key, if you're just looking at an app's options in doc and don't want to change anything.
