spell check in text edit?

Hi Everyone,
I appologize in advance for what should be an obvious question, but I  
can't seem to figure out how to use the suggestions table with spell  
check. I interact with the table, but it's unclear how I pick a  
particular suggestion from the list and change the miss spelled word?
So far, spell check is the only feature where I believe Windows is  
superior to the mac and VO, but this might just because I haven't  
fully mastered spell check at this point.
Any suggestions for the best ways to use spell check in text edit  
would be very much appreciated!
