And still the problem gets all the way back around to the fact that you have to have the cab files to begin with and thus there in lies the problem. Once you have the cab files, things can work just fine and be dealt with. Ah, just give me the ding dang cab files and have at it.

yes, did I miss your point here? You're right, but I thought you were saying that .cab files needed the .exe to run on the phone, which isn't the case.

Sorry if I misunderstood.

yes, but when you use active sync, this is all controlled by the installer
and you need do nothing on the phone.

this is only partially true. The .exe portion of the install takes
place on the pc while the .cab portion is actually run on the phone
itself. You can run a .cab file which is on your phone from the phone
by itself.

actually, on the smart phones, the install takes place through
active sync
on the windows side. on the symbion phones, the install is done on
the phone
at least that is how it works with mobile speak. What I need to be
able to
so is install mss on my windows mobile phone.

You can send files to the device by using the mount function.
You'll get a warning that it's still in beta, but for me, the phone
folder structure shows up fine.

Once the cab file is on the phone though, you'll need to have a screen reader of some sort active on the phone to do the install from there.
I'm not sure whether this can be accomplished from the Mac side, as
most installers bring up dialogues on the phone itself which need to
be dealt with.

Hi,

No it doesn't, as far as my knowledge goes. MsOutlook doesn't even
have a Mac variant, and the Syncmate application works with all the
native Mac applications.

To answer Scott's question, I don't actually know how to push
installer files accross, never having done this before. I honestly
didn't even know it had this feature until I read the manual that
came with the installed application.

I also think that the link I posted was the Manual. Correct me if I
am wrong.

Thanks for listening,
Alex,

Just as an additional FYI, I've been trying to use this app, and it
does seem almost completely accessible with VO. However, I can't
seem
to get it to sync my BlackJack II with my Mac. I can use the mount function to explore the phone when it's connected, but so far, - no
luck with syncage!

Hi,

There is something called Syncmate, that works like the missing
sync, except it is free.

Reply if this interests you.

Hello everyone,
I am getting ready to purchase a cell phone. I have not decided
at
this point how far I want to go with the phone. I mean for
example
Talks or Mobile Speaks. A Motorola Q or a Nokia N75 or n82 for
example.
But my big questions are these.
1. Is it necessary to use Missing Synch when working with file
transfers and the like? if so, how well does Missing Synch work
with VoiceOver under Leopard?
2. Generally, what phones work best with Mac under Leopard,, not
Windows?
Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts.
Dan
