In theory it might have worked but it was probably too buggy. Burners
need to have a constant feed of data to write or you end up with a
coaster. Even 1x DVD writing requires no less than 1.35MB per second.
With real world wireless hovering at 2MB per second this is just asking
for problems. Even if it did work, would want to wait 60 minutes to
write a single-layer (4.7GB) disk? So it might have been somewhat
possible but they probably didn't want to put in the engineering work
for a marginal use case.
