Thanks!
I got it up and running, going through the registration was the hard
part! Now that's taken care of everything else is easy!
I love Itunes as well!

O, you know what? I had this same issue, my friend. Let me tell ya
how to fix it.
What you need to do, is to actually bring up ITunes first! then!
plug your IPod in.
The reason that it's doing what it is, is because right now, Leopard
is seeing your IPod as a flash drive, and thus, moun ting it to the
desktop, thus, not allowing it to be mounted as a playlist in ITunes.
Secondly, once you plug in the IPod, you're gonna get a screen
telling you to register it, etc. You need to go through, and create
an Apple ID if you've not already, and sign in. It's free to do
that, don't fret. If you already got an account, go up in the menu
bar of ITunes, to the store menu, then go to sign in. Once you've
signed in, you'll remain so, unless you sign out. This goes for
even if you quit ITunes and reopen it.
I agree, that kind a threw me off at first too, but once you get the
hang of it, it's a sinch, trust me. I sync my shuffle with ITunes,
and frankly, I was using WinAmp on my windows box to do it, but, o,
frickin God! No more! God, the way ITunes does it, is so frickin
slick! I love it!

Subject: syncing my Itunes library with my Ipod?
Hi Everyone,
How do I sync my Itunes library with my new Ipod? I plugged the
Ipod into the USB port, and it said optomising for mac OS 10. It
opens Itunes, but nothing seems to sync. What do I need to do to
get everything working together?
The Ipod isn't showing up in my Itunes source list, but is showing
up in finder.
Help?
Thanks as always, Olivia
