Alex,
Whether or not Olivia can use the Numpad in the keyboard depends on
whether she got her MacBook before the November 2007 switch to
keyboards without the Num Lock function on the F6 key. If she does,
then she only has access to a subset of the numeric keypad, and then
only if she turns on Mouse Keys (to control the movement of her mouse
with what were the number keys of the numeric keypad). In this mode
you have access to the default "click" with the number "5" key of the
Numpad, but that's an unintentional side-effect. The VoiceOver
Getting Started Manual for Leopard contains a warning not to turn
NumPad commander on if you are using Mouse Keys. On the newer laptops
without the Num Lock key function, what happens when you do this is
that you gain control of some NumPad keys but lose the ability to use
the Command key. Just for your information.
Cheers,
Esther

Hi,
You have a hidden Numpad hidden in the keyboard.
Thanks for listening,

Hi Listers,
Quick tip for mouse up and mouse down . Just use the NumPad
and assign a key to do " Mouse up and down? " If you have a
NumPad that is.

Minor typo -- I use the thumb of my right hand to hold down the
space bar when I press VO-Command-Shift-Space -- the four
fingers of my left hand are pressing Command, Option, Control,
and Shift for the start and stop of the drag and drop.

Hi Everyone,
I can't get draging and dropping to work, no matter what I
try. Here is what I am doing:
1. Interacting with songs table.
2. Pressing VO shift space on the desired item.
You don't need to click on the desired item with VO-shift-space
but it's OK if you do.
3. Moving the mouse to the item.
After you have moved the mouse to the item you need to start
the drag and drop with VO-Command-Shift-Space. I slide the
fingers of my left hand over one key to press this so that I
have three fingers in a row on the Control, Option, and Command
keys, and use my little finger to press the Shift key while I
press the space bar with the forefinger of my right hand, but
you can always lock the VoiceOver keys with VO-semi-colon, then
press Command-Shift-Space to start the drag and drop and unlock
them again with VO-semi-colon
4. Turning curser tracking off.
5. pressing VO shift space once I've gotten to the location I
want o drop the files.
When you get to the location you want to drop the files, first
move your mouse to the location and then use VO-Command-Shift-
Space to complete the drop. Remember that you're pressing
Control-Option-Command-Shift-Space (the Command key gets
pressed, too).
What am I doing wrong? I tried starting at the location I
wanted to drag and drop to and doing VO shift space there, but
that brought me back to mail.
The problem is you're leaving out pressing the Command key at
the same time -- it's VO-Command-Shift-Space for the drag-and-
drop action.
Perhaps someone can email me off list and walk me through this
somehow?
Thanks, Olivia
HTH

Esther
