what does ping again mean?  why install dirt over dirty?

Let me guess... you just updated to 10.5.5?

Don't be too concerned.  My suggestion is as follows:
1.  Go to apple and download the combo updater for 10.5.5
2.  Install the combo updater.
3.  Repair disk permissions.

If you still have the problem, ping again.
