Jeff asked about adding entire albums to his playlists to for making a large transfer playlist for his new 4G iPod Nano, and both Simon and Scott answered him. Simon detailed how to use the browser to select and add tracks to a playlist an album at a time, and Scott described the use of smart playlists.

Since there have been recent discussions about transferring content to other iPods, like the Classic, using VoiceOver drag and drop, and by using semi-automatic sync, where the content of selected (checked) playlists in your iTunes library are automatically transferred to the iPod, I'd like to emphasize that both methods can be used to put content on any iPod with a click-wheel. However, for the 4G Nano, spoken menus only get generated when you let the iPod sync content (your checked playlists).

My recent post in the archives details the differences in what happens in each case:

Hi David, what it is, is adding tracks to a playlist using the browser.
You know, by album instead of track by track.
