Marty and all,

First a rather nonsequitoric note. You are the second person I have seen go into the apple store to buy something with a capacious hd and lots of ram
and come out with a mini.

I've excerpted your questions and placed my observations below your
questions are marked with q, the observations are marked with a.

Please read carefully as some of this is related and it may seem a bit basic
and somewhat confusing.

I hope ester will chime in here as she writes better than I.

q Hi all, I took the plunge, and got a mac mini, it is the one for $799,
but I wasn't sure if I would have speech break ups, as when I was
listening to Mike arrigo's tutorial, it would repeat words twice, like
me-messages, when returning to the row, so I had them put some more ram
in there,
a More ram won't help with this but a lot has happened os wise since that review. I don't recall exactl what gave you the impression that more ram would help or that there is a particular issue. More ram is good for other
reasons though so it's not a bad thing to have them install it but You
should get an apple keyboard and mouse to go with your mini.

q I wanted something where I could have it set up where I could have it, where I could go on line with either computer, but not both machines at
the same time, so they wouldn't charge me extra for an ip address, and
they said something like an ethernet splitter, but they didn't have
something like that, and reccommended against it, because they were
afraid that too much of the signal might be lost, so is there a way to
do this, so I can still go on line with this computer, without
unhooking anything, as a transitioning time from windows?
a Any router will function this way and it shares one ip address so you wouldn't have to bother with adding another. Think carefully though when deciding on a router because the decision ou make will need to take into account your future encrption needs. The airport express is a nice option if you will want to stream audio to a sound system from anywhere in the house and it also can act as a print server. I like netgear and find that its html interface is quite accessible on the mac but m particular model has a quirk that keeps it from allowing me to finish configuration sometimes.

q Also, I have
a web site, and I want to be able to edit my html in text edit, but
don't know how to do, what we know in windows, as using home and end to
go to either end of the line,
a you'll have a full keyboard so it will have home and end on it.

q and also, can I have a situation where I
can turn off punctuation in text edit, but leave it on everywhere else
like a set file would do in window-eyes, or am I thinking incorrectly.
a we cannot save vo settings on a per app basis, but the main ones can be
gotten at rather easily.

q I'd want it to say blank lines, so I would know where to start typing.
a this can be done.

q Also, for the mac, are there accessible ftp programs with voice over?
because I'll need an ftp program, or something comprable to upload to
my site.
q I use terminal for this.

a Another question, I know that pm mail has a version for os10,
and I'd want to know, can I import my address book, as well as my two
.act folders into the mail program for the mac, or, would I have to get pm mail for the mac? The only reason why I hesitate to go with pm mail is because this version has no support for ssl encription, and I'd want
that, as the mail program for the mac has this, so I have lots of
questions.
a pm mail is not accessible on the mac. I don't know what format it stores its mail in but if ou can export to mbox format or anything except outlook
express format, you should have no issues with importing our mail. M
solution is to upload your mail to a unix/linux server and set up an account
for that mailbox and download the mail that way.
