Hi
Vuescan : www.hamrick.com
Read iris: www.irislink.com
A trial of Vuescan is available, though Read Iris doesn't seem to offer a trial version anymore.

Can you provide the links to these scanning programs?
I am a mac exclusive as well, and would love to be able to get some scanning software.
Thanks, Olivia

Hi
Read Iris is a very good OCR program. I use it inconjunction with VueScan, which handles my scanner better than Read Iris does. While the OCR in Iris is very good, its scanning abilities are below what they should be. However, Vuescan handles this and they can even be linked together so you can scan with it directly into read iris. This is the approach I use, being a Mac exclusive. There's also Omnipage Pro X for Mac, but I have no idea if Nuance is updating it anymore or not, and they aren't very forthcoming with information regarding it.

Hi all,
I'm new to the list and have been really enjoying the messages I've read so far. I don't have my own mac but my fiance has a mac and lately, I've been playing around with voiceover. As I've been using it more, I've really liked what I see and now I kind of want a mac. But anyway, I have a quick question and haven't been able to talk to actual users. For those of you who are exclusively using the mac and do a lot of scanning and OCR, what program do you use? I know there are some lists of accessible scanning and OCR programs online but I was just wondering if you could comment on how you like them and how they compare to the windows programs if you've used them, like kurzweil and openbook. Do you find that it's just as powerful as the windows programs?
Thanks so much.
Ronit
