You would have to run a command to get all files changed today and
have a look. I have never seen this behaviour before, but I do know
that the mac will not normally show you files that begin with period
or underline.

The folder I'm talking about was never imported into Itunes. I copied
it to my desktop to start with but noticed that finder wasn't showing
everything. Consequently I decided not to import it until figuring out
what was going on. I deleted it figuring it was corrupt, but didn't
get the disk space back that it took up in the first place. When I go
into the terminal, that folder is no longer listed when I do the
appropriate sudo commands. It is also not present in the trash, which
