Hi,
Since I just corrected my post on iTool, I'll add that to the list of
system tweaking tools that can be used to expose hidden system
settings and reveal hidden (or "dot" files) in Finder. More commonly
used freeware tweaking tools are OnyX and TinkerTool, along with
modestly priced shareware tools like Cocktail can also handle this, as
Jacob detailed.
I would add to Jacob's answer that folders like /usr and /bin will
show up if you use the Command-Shift-G (go to folder) command in
Finder and type in "/usr" or "/bin" (without the quotation marks) in
the prompt line even if these folders have a hidden flag.
Cheers,
Esther

Hi
Actually there is, though it is a hidden preference that you have to
explicitly set. Open the terminal window and do this:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles true
Now command-tab back to finder and hold down command+option+shift
+escape for a few seconds to cause finder to restart. All hidden
files and folders will now be shown to you, and I do mean all of
them, including folders that have a hidden flag set like /usr and /
bin.
If you wish to turn this off, give the defaults line in terminal,
but replace true with false. Then restart finder.
An alternate way to set this preference is to install a system
tweaking tool such as Cocktail, which exposes a lot of hidden system
settings.

Hi all,
Any one know how I show files and folders that have a dot before
the name?
Thanks for any info.
