Yes, it's part of the free Apple xcode developer tools. Normally it is
installed in Developer/Applications/Utilities/Accessibility
Tools/Accessibility Verifier.app. I'd be happy to share with the Open
Office folks but I haven't had time to go through the registration
process to get permission to send them bugs. Mostly I need to take the
time to wade through the introduction which lays out what you are
signing up for when you get an account. I'm not really interested in
developing Open Office but I would like to point out this flaw.

Chris, is that tool a part of the developer suite? Also, you might
want to send those results to the Open Office folks, they probably
would find it interesting.

On taking a closer look with the Apple Accessibility Verifier (part
of their free developer tools) I opened Open Office Writer with a
blank document and inserted a single empty 4x8 table. In this state
the verifier found 73 warnings and 59 errors. Included in this list
were several attributes which were missing related to the Table.
These include
AXRows
AXSelectedColumns
AXHeader
AXColumns
AXVisibleRows
AXSelectedRows
AXVisibleColumns
So if these are missing and should be there then it's no wonder VO
can't work with the table.

One area I was having trouble with hasn't improved. If I hit
Apple-F12 to insert a new table into a Writer document, I can
navigate around the document and then enter an object announced as
"Table 1 on Page 1 Table". But if I VO shift down to interact with
the table nothing happens. I can tab from cell to cell and edit the
content of the cells but I have no way of knowing what cell, column
or row I'm in other than by the context of the cells I've already
put stuff into. VO-C just beeps instead of reading the column.
VO-shift-T just beeps instead of giving the column and row number.
VO-shift-H just beeps instead of reading the column header. VO-R
just beeps instead of reading the row.
I was hoping I could interact with the table to navigate around and
then interact with a cell to make changes. Right now tables are
pretty much unusable with VO. Anyone else figured out how to work
with tables in Open Office Writer documents?

Hey everyone, for those who are interested.
Open Office RC 4 is out today.
I haven't downloaded it to check out the accessibility yet, but
just thought I would let those know who were keeping track of it.
Take care,
