Chris - I already own the robotic tuner you linked too.  Accurate
enough for a good starting point, and I used it live a few bands ago,
but it's downfall is that it only does standard tuning and they don't
sell adaptors to fit on to different machineheads.  Since the current
band throw some stupidly low metal tunings at me and the tuner doesn't
fit over the machineheads on my Ibanez, it doesn't get much use
nowadays.
Cheers for the Gibson link, looks neat!  With my budget, I wouldn't
dare take anything Gibson out on the London live circuit... too messy
on stage and too much goes missing backstage.

Jerry - Good thinkin!  last time I looked in on the midi mag list it
was way too high volume for me.  they're bound to have archives I
could search though.  Thanks for the nudge.

Everyone else - still hunting for a potential software way to do this
with VO, so keep the suggestions coming if you have them, off list if
they're not mac/VO related.
