Hi John,
Thanks for the information.
Actually, I'm still researching on these matters to make sure I will get one that will meet my requirements, as these things are not cheap, if you know what I mean!
So, it's handy to inquire information from the users around.
Cheers,

Estelita

Hi Estelita,

I have used an Index Basic-D with a USB port on my Mac with iBraille. It is not exactly the simplest thing to utilize, but it works well enough. The formatting of the page and paper size options are not the most straight forward thing in the world and it takes a little getting used to. The other negative thing, as far as I'm concerned, is it does not recognize other Braille formatted material from other applications, such as a .dxb file or .brf file.

Hi John,
Thank you and other for replying my query.
I searched about this embosser online, and it has USB connection in it.
Are you using it with your Mac?
I'm just wondering if we can format the document, the way we want it to appear in braille.
Like for example the heading in centre, and indention in paragraphs.
Please let me know if this will work.
Best regards,

Estelita

The index embossers will work with iBraille from Index or Greg's Louis application. The trick is connecting the unit. If you have a USB connection, it's pretty straight forward. However, the serial versions, I have found, are a little difficult.

Hi Listers,
Is anybody here using index everest embosser in their iMac?
If yes, can you please tell me how accessible it is with Voice Over?
Do you use braille software to convert text to braille?
If yes, please tell me what software it is.
Reason I ask because I am planning to purchase this type of embosser, but have no idea if it will be accessible to use with my iMac.
Thank you for any help, it is very much appreciated.
