Hi Erik,
I'm pretty sure that it was Thuy who mentioned making a virtual
machine from the Bootcamp partition. You can find his posts by going
to the mail archive sites for this list at:
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
and running a search -- e.g., tab and type in (or copy and paste)
from:"Thuy" Bootcamp virtual machine
and then press return, and you'll get a series of links to Thuy's
posts about this issue in the archives.
If you want to read the sequence as it appeared in one of the threads,
here's the posted question about vitualising Bootcamp. You can use the
access keys for Safari (Control-N to go to the next post in the
thread) to read through the discussion as it proceeded from this point:
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg23582.html
("on the topic of fusion, has anybody successfully virtualised their
bootcamppartition?")
I'm not sure what works for Internet Explorer -- maybe Alt+N to
navigate to the next post in the thread?
I have to say, I really like the Mail Archive searching and navigating
features, so thanks to the unknown person who registered this list at
that site back in December 2005, especially after the main
Macvisionaries archives started dropping posts a year and a half ago.
They just kept adding features, so that in addition to the original
simple keyword searches you could use Boolean arguments, date ranges,
author, wild cards, etc. Then I found out about the access keys and
that really speeded up the navigation -- Control-N saved me from
having to navigate back to the "thread" link at the top, VO-right
arrow and press (VO-space) on "-->" to get to the next post in the
thread.
One warning, the access key feature using the Control key in Safari
got broken in the WebKit nightly builds a little over a month ago, so
I read and search the mail archive site for this list using Safari and
not WebKit.
HTH
Cheers,
Esther

I don't really have any other than that it is possible. Some one
was telling us about it a few months ago here on the list. I'm
going to set up this configuration in a few weeks on a new macbook
for a client. I'll read up on it then and let you know how it works
out if you're interested.

Hi,
It's not really clear whether you want to run the os' together or
side-by-side.
If you want to run them side-by-side, Then theoreticly it is
possible to make an unattended install cd with your windows xp key
and automate the windows instalation. It may also be possible to
slipstream the bootcamp drivers, so that your computer comes up
singing the first time you boot into windows proper.
If you want to run both os together, then vmware fusion handles an
autoated install of windows very nicely, and the windows
instalation will come up with sound that you can use until you
install the windows drivers or at your option, you can ust use the
default drivers slipstreamed by fusion. I must say I like my
windows OS a little better with the added functionality of the
bootcamp windows drivers.
Then there is a third option which is to install bootcamp and
windows XP, and then make a virtual machine out of your bootcamp
partician. That is really hardcore, but offers the best of both
worlds for very little more effort than having one or the other.
Best,
Erik

Hi all:
Just wondering if someone could explain how to install Windows XP
on a MacBook as a second operating system. Also do you need
sighted assistance to choose which operating system you want to
boot from when you start your notebook. ? I am assuming that I am
able to use my windows screen reader when i load Windows OSÉ
Thanks,
