Hello Estelita, how are you doing?
As far as search boxes, are you speaking of search boxes that are in
webpages itself?
I will list a couple of search events you can do.
To get to the search box, usually Google at the tool bar. This is the
bar that is right under the location bar, and you can get to it by
doing this. This is how I do it myself, so if there is a quicker way,
I am sure others will chime in.
Press Command + L to get to your location bar, and then just press Tab.
you can also do the following.
Wrap around to the top of the window, and press the following command.
VO, or hold down Control + Option, and then hold down Shift, followed
by pressing Home. You will hear ToolBar, and just interact with it by
pressing VO + Shift + Down. Then, use VO navigational keys, until you
hear Google Search Text Field. Usually, just VO + Right Arrow when
you interact, and you will find it after a couple of presses.
Lastly, you can do the following. This is probably the best way of
doing it. I say that, only because it is quick and efficient.
Bring up your item chooser, while in Safari. Do this by pressing BO +
I. Once the item chooser comes up, type in google, or search, or
something similar to what the box is called, and you will be given a
list of items. Usually, the top one will be the one your looking for,
but just arrow up and down to make sure. Once found, just hit enter,
or VO + Space, to be brought to the item you chose.
Search Boxes and Edit Fiels on WebPages.
One of the quickest way to jump from edit elements is to do the
following.
Use VO + Command + J to jump from different controls. This does edit
boxes, checkboxes, buttons, and so fourth on webpages. sometimes, it
takes a little longer then expected should you be on a bigger site.
If the site has multiple control elements, then you will be doing this
command a couple of times to find what your looking for. If you use
this command however, do not immediately type in the field. I found
that even though it finds it corectly, VO seems not to be focussed on
that particular control item. This is perhaps because of my settings
I have, but just to be certain your on the field, just VO navigate
left, and then back with the right arrow to be placed in the edit field.
Lastly, you can use the Item Chooser, with VO + I again. Just type in
edit, and you will find all edit fields that are associated with the
word.
