what about the 24 hour checkbox in the clock window of date and time, I used 
this a while back and it worked.

Umm, the date/time customizing in International>format was confusing
to say the least, probably because i haven't been there and dealt with
it before. Looks like you'll have to drag things around... Not certain
how to deal with this dialog. I went in and did something, mostly
poking around with VO, which btw behaved like a rubber band in this
dialog... Dunno if i actually managed to change anything. Anyone has
tips for this thing?:-)
