NNTP and Mail

Folks, I don't want to appear completely stupid here, but I had a  
total brain fart and confused rss and news feeds. I'd like to know if  
anyone can recommend a good and accessible news reader, that will do  
the NNTP thing. I just learned that I can avoid using the web  
interface with University of Phoenix if I can get news groups. I'm  
assuming Apple Mail won't do this, but if I'm wrong, please yell at me.
