I don't seem to be getting this here, but it could be something specific to certain jar files. Have you gone into the console and looked at the errors generated? Console, on OS X, doesn't mean the command line, it's a utility for viewing system logs and searching through them. Open Applications/Utilities/Console.app, and maybe you can get to the bottom of the error itself that is causing this dialog to pop up. Is it a free java program you're trying to run? Maybe I can take a look at it.

Hi listers,
I am having a problem running java apps in leopard. Even though I downloaded the latest java updates, I get the following message when I click on a .jar file.
the java jar file could not be launched. Check the council for errors.
What is going on here? Have any of you experienced this, and if so, what can I do about it? Google doesn't seem to be helpful with regard to this cryptic error message.
Thanks for your help,

John

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
