Hi Mike,

I took a look at this and it looks interesting, especially since you can set the words per minute. This was the major hang up for setting up Automator actions to convert text to mp3 last year. Jane got this information from the accessibility team; if you want to read a summary in one of Darcy's later replies, here's his post from the archives:

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg33284.html
(figured Automator out)

And here's the earlier post Jane sent with the forwarded response from Apple's Accessibility team:

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg24218.html
(Fwd: Adjusting Say Speech in Terminal)

This also points to the documents in the Apple Developer connection for customizing and fine-turning speech.

My main question is about the resulting mp3 files. What bit rate encoding do they use? The nice feature of this site is that they make the conversion directly to mp3. Have you tried this your self, Mike?

Thanks.

Cheers,

Esther

Hi All:

 Check out http://www.spokentext.net.
You can up load or past in text and have it recorded. Max up load for a free account is 1.2Meg.
It will record PDF and others.
