Hi Jeffery, this probably has nothing to do with the update. The ICal helper is a function of ICal which alerts you to items / appointments in your calendar by bringing up a window with the particular event shown in it.

So, as I have ICal synced with my calendar in my phone, I'll get ICal helper coming up from time to time letting me know of upcoming events / appointments and such.

this is normal behavior and you might want to check your calendar to see if anything is set to alert you.

I hit command tab and go back to safari and my mbp acts like nothing ever happened. I repaired permissions and it still happens.
