Well the question becomes comparing and parden the pun, lets compare
apples to apples.
You would have to figure out what hardware is in the system, brand of
drives, ram, and so forth. THen you have to consider the environmental
aspects, the Apple machines are more environmentally friendly. Then we
must consider cost of the OS since you get the OS essentially for
nothing when you purchase a Mac and I say this because even the
upgrades are half the price of an upgrade for Windows. So, Apple
collects I'm sure a bit on the front-end for the OS. Then finally lets
consider the fact there are more PCs on the market and so
manufacturers sell them for less to make them move. Not all PC laptops
are created equally or as inexpensive as you may think. There is some
truth in you get what you pay for.
So, yes the Mac may cost more, but there is a number of factors you
have to consider when asking the question.
