I should have looked at my message more carefully.
Anyhow, here is what I meant.
Adium seemed to act strange when she first installed it. I had her
change the notifications to Audio Notifications only, in which the
default audio set of Tokyo Train Station was activated by default.
Sounds that should have played when recieving, or sending a message
were finiky. I can vouch for this because I actually sent her a
message. No sound had played for about a minute, and at that point,
she just checked over her message log, and the message I had sent was
safely received. So, at that point, there was no audio queue letting
her know a message was being sent. Moreover, she typed a message to
me, and I heard my notification when an incoming message was received,
but on her end, the audio queue alerting her that she had sent a
message was not played.
Furthermore, I signed in and out, and had her focussed on the
contacts. VO announced "1 row added" indicatng I signed on, but in
both events, the sounds did not play at all.
After letting Adium sit for a while, sounds started working again.
I checked later on, to see if the problem was resolved, and she had
explained that her sounds worked fine now.
I hope this covers my mistake, and I appologize for not providing a
coherent message..

you're having major contradictory issues in your explanation. "Both
in sending, recieving, and logging in." How can it be "both" when
there are three choices and that's not even a full sentence.
Sorry, but I had to jump on the grammar band waggon here. Now I know
what you guys mean! In any case, I figured out what you were saying.
Have you tried reinstalling Adium from scratch? I am also having
issues with Adium. It keeps giving me "unknown error" messages and it
won't let me add an account. Whenever I go to add an account and hit
enter, it places me back in the list of contacts. the only way I can
use MSN is to add it as a guest account.

I noticed that her Growl Notification did not come up.
Should I have her reinstall Adium, or go for the combo updater to fix
anything else that could be wrong?
